Palermo FC presents the design for the future Renzo Barbera Stadium

Palermo FC has presented its vision for the new Renzo Barbera Stadium, which will transform the former structure into a contemporary, sustainable, multi-functional venue as part of a redevelopment project coordinated by Populous.

Beyond an aesthetic refurbishment of the stadium, the vision for the future Barbera is to open it up to the city and its community, raising Palermo’s international profile. From Euro 2032 onwards, the new Barbera will be a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting top-flight football, including UEFA competitions and international matches, as well as major concerts, cultural events, and large-scale performances.

The redevelopment of the Barbera stems from a respect for the relationship between the stadium and its surroundings, the importance of Parco della Favorita, and the iconic view of Monte Pellegrino, which is an integral part of the area’s landscape identity.

A new facility will be built adjacent to the stadium that will serve as Palermo’s “home”: a modern headquarters comprising a museum, offices, reception areas and spaces dedicated to fans, guests and premium visitors.

MIC-HUB is proud to collaborate with Populous and Palermo FC to ensure the project is fully integrated with the city. Sustainable mobility will play a key role in guaranteeing the accessibility, safety and efficiency of people movements on a daily basis and during sports, cultural and entertainment events.

In line with the Council’s development plans, the project will promote low-impact forms of transport such as electric vehicles, bicycles, walking, micromobility and public transport.

Palermo FC’s vision is not just to deliver a renovated stadium, but to create a new iconic city venue, a focal point for social interaction.
