Bari presents a parking study in support of the BRT

A press conference was held at Palazzo della Città last Friday to present the Parking Study which supports the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project for the city of Bari.

Developed on behalf of the Municipality of Bari, the Parking Study defines the strategic direction for parking management in view of the BRT implementation, particularly along the project corridors. The aim is to mitigate the impacts during construction of the new infrastructure and to support the launch of the new service.

Through detailed analyses of the urban context, the study identifies flexible, implementable solutions that comprise oversized road spaces, derelict or underused plots, and existing parking areas. These solutions take a balanced approach to accessibility, urban quality and the development of public transport.

With the introduction of the BRT, Bari aims to reduce both the number of private cars in circulation and the demand for parking spaces. The new public transport system will be able to carry up to 15.8 million passengers per year once fully operational, removing approximately 6 million cars from the city traffic.

The project was presented by Martina Parma, a senior consultant at MIC-HUB, in the presence of Mayor Vito Leccese, Councillor for Land Management Domenico Scaramuzzi, and Claudio Laricchia, Director of Infrastructure, Transport and Public Works.
