Tirana Riverside Masterplan

MIC-HUB is pleased to be part of the design team that is developing the Tirana Riverside Masterplan and that has been presented to the Albanian Council of Ministers the 13th of May 2020. The new development will be the first European smart green post pandemic district and will be an experimental site for innovative mobility solutions based on electric and autonomous vehicles, shared and adaptive public spaces to facilitate the movement of bikes and pedestrians as well as autonomous electric vehicles.

The operation, led by Stefano Boeri Architects, is aimed to create an ambitious mixed use development with a strong residential component that will allow to provide 3000 new apartments also to the inhabitants who lost their homes due to the earthquake that struck Albania in 2019.

The team, coordinated by Stefano Boeri Architects and Son-Group, includes Studio Laura Gatti, Transsolar, SCE Project and ESA Engineering.

The Masterplan, planned to accommodate 12,000 people, is a 29-hectare green neighbourhood, equipped with all the technologies of a Smart City and able to guarantee the safeguards and health safety requirements necessary to face contemporary seismic and pandemic emergencies.
