Walk21 International Conference, Tirana
Federico Parolotto, CEO of MIC-HUB, and Sabine Garrone, Mobility Planning Director, are attending the Walk21 International Conference organised by Walk21 Foundation in Tirana.
Federico will also participate in the panel ‘City Stories: Local Walking Action’ presenting the case study: ‘Addressing Walkability Across Different Planning Scales – The Case of Farka Lake’.
The project, developed by MIC-HUB in collaboration with SON Architects for the Municipality of Tirana, demonstrates how walkability can be addressed through a multi-scalar planning approach.
Set in a fragmented suburban context, the project’s proposal introduces an integrated pedestrian and cycling network, rethinks road hierarchies, removes infrastructural barriers and promotes an inclusive and accessible city-wide vision for mobility.
Federico will join a panel of international experts to share insights on how local action is reshaping walking environments:
José Besselink, Urban Planner, City of Rotterdam, Netherlands
Grzegorz Krajewski, Plenipotentiary of Mayor of Gdańsk for Pedestrians, Municipality of Gdańsk, Poland
Azeb Tesfaye Legese, Research Associate, University of Kassel, Germany
Moderator: Sophia Schuff, Director of Gehl, Denmark
Organised by the Walk21 Foundation, the conference brings together professionals, researchers, and city leaders to advance more walkable, inclusive, and liveable cities through global knowledge exchange and local case studies.
