Biennale dello Stretto 2026
The third edition of the Biennale dello Stretto was presented during a press conference on Thursday 19 March at the Triennale di Milano. This year’s theme is ‘Mutations’, and the event will be directed by Alfonso Femia, Annalisa Metta and Salima Naji.
The MIC-HUB City Futures Research Lab department will curate the thematic section dedicated to mobility. ‘Stories of Voices and Infrastructure’ offers a broader perspective on Mediterranean and Strait mobility, exploring the current transformations in the logic of movement beyond an exclusively engineering and function-based interpretation.
From this perspective, mobility itself becomes a narrative device, offering a fresh interpretation of the landscape through the rhythms of life, the quality of time and the relationships between territories, communities and the future.
The mobility session is curated by Federico Parolotto, CEO of MIC-HUB, and Delia Valastro, Senior Researcher at the City Futures Research Lab, in collaboration with a working group comprising:
Farzaneh Bahrami, researcher and assistant professor of urban design and mobility at the University of Groningen;
Ruben Baiocco, an architect and professor of Urban Planning at the University of Milan;
Lorenzo Fabian, an architect and professor of Urban Planning at the IUAV University of Venice;
Ettore Donadoni, research fellow in the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Politecnico di Milano;
the foundation Mobilità in Città.
We are honoured to be contributing to this ambitious cultural project, which aims to showcase international perspectives on the future by placing the regions of the Strait and the Mediterranean at the centre of the discussion, while encouraging extensive contemplation on the interplay between architecture, infrastructure, landscape, art, society, and transformation.
