Launch ceremony of the Greater Muscat Structure Plan, Oman
The Greater Muscat Structure Plan has officially launched: a vision for a city of 1.5 million people with 100 kilometres of coastline that will shape the future of Muscat through sustainable, connected and resilient urban growth.
The plan was launched under the royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, the Minister of State and Governor of Muscat. Led by Broadway Malyan in association with F&M Middle East, for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Omanthe plan sets out a transformative spatial and investment framework for the capital region’s future.
MIC-HUB is especially proud to have played a key role in defining the mobility strategy for this ambitious vision, which involves a shift from car-dependent growth to a more accessible urban model with a more balanced modal share.
At the heart of the plan lies the Blue Spine: a 100 km transit-oriented corridor, connecting vital economic hubs, facilitating walkable 15-minute neighbourhoods, and ensuring inclusive and resilient growth for Greater Muscat.
The Structure Plan is a significant milestone on the path to Oman Vision 2040, integrating mobility, public realm enhancement, economic diversification, and future-ready infrastructure to create a more sustainable and interconnected metropolis by 2040.
