MIC-HUB collaborated with the Rwanda Transport Development Agency on a national strategic study to define a more accessible, sustainable and efficient public transport system. The project aimed to improve connectivity between rural communities and the country’s urban centres, ensuring better access to essential services, economic opportunities, healthcare and education.
During the session ‘Data-Driven Strategies for Road Safety’ on Friday, 19 September from 1.30 pm, Delia Valastro, Senior Consultant in the MIC-HUB City Futures Research Lab, will present the paper: ‘The role of data collection process for road accident risk mitigation’.
Her research highlights the crucial role of developing safe and accessible infrastructure in reducing fatalities among pedestrians and vulnerable road users. The study examines accident characteristics and data collection methodologies at both European and Italian levels, aiming to identify the physical, morphological and social factors that increase community vulnerability. It also defines the requirements for a spatial tool to map accident distribution, supporting the achievement of the Vision Zero target.
