Milan Piazza Cordusio: work has begun
Work began last week on the redevelopment of Piazza Cordusio in Milan’s historic centre.
The project will transform the square into a more pedestrian-friendly space, free from car traffic. The existing pedestrian island will be widened, allowing only trams to pass through in future.
The works also include the first section of Via Dante, where the tram stops will be improved and integrated with bicycle stations, and Via Orefici, where the pavements will be widened to the entrance of Piazza Duomo.
The project, by Freyrie Flores Architettura, MIC-HUB and Esa Engineering, aims to improve the pedestrian experience by redistributing the space and revising the vehicular road system.
