THE PLAN Award 2026: two projects shortlisted
Hunnu City in Mongolia and New City Salalah in Oman, both of which were developed with the contribution of MIC-HUB as a mobility expert, have been shortlisted in the Urban Planning category of the award.
Organised by THE PLAN, this international award recognises excellence and innovation in architecture, design and urban planning, celebrating projects that help shape the future of our built environment.
Hunnu City, Mongolia
Located south of Ulaanbaatar, Hunnu City is a forward-thinking new city inspired by natural systems and the surrounding steppe landscape.
The masterplan is structured around circular hubs inspired by the traditional ger (yurt), creating a ‘constellation’ of 15-minute neighbourhoods, the mobility strategy focused on seamless connectivity, accessibility and sustainable transport. The project team is led by Bechu & Associés.
New City Salalah, Oman
The vision for New City Salalah emerged from the Greater Salalah Structural Plan to accommodate future growth while preserving the unique natural and cultural assets of Dhofar.
This sustainable waterfront city is designed to accommodate 65,000 residents and integrates nature, public spaces, and multimodal mobility to create a connected, people-centred urban environment. The project team is led by Sasaki.
Two different urban visions, one shared ambition: creating more sustainable, connected and people-centred cities.
