The renewal of two subway stations has started in New York City

MIC-HUB is happy to announce that the New York city Metropolitan Transit Autority has started implementing the renewal of 34th Str AC and 123 Stations as part of the Enhanced Station Initiative.

The MTA Enhanced Station Initiative (ESI) Program was launched in February 2016 in response to the governor’s mandate. Led by the New York City Transit Authority (NYCT), the ESI Program is a major investment in MTA infrastructure. The program covers the modernization of up to 33 stations, some of which have been in operation for more than a century. When complete, all the new stations will be equipped to meet the challenges of climate change and increasing ridership.

MIC-HUB has worked with Grimshaw Architects to study and revise the design for the 2 stations, bringing world class standards to Metro-North stations. Upgrades include improved station entrances, optimal circulation, turnstiles repositioning as well as new wayfinding. Based on the most recent MTA flows data a set of analysis , including isovisibility and pedestrian simulations were performed to support Grimshaw team in identifying critical issues and opportunities for the new stations design.
