Aurora-Barriera Regeneration Project, Turin
Turin, Italy
The Aurora Barriera regeneration project aims to transform Corso Palermo and the surrounding Aurora and Barriera di Milano neighborhoods into a greener, more livable, and accessible area, regenerating the disused or abandoned spaces.
The new masterplan for Corso Palermo proposes a transformation of the three-kilometre axis between Aurora and Barriera di Milano, reconnecting the street for the people who live and move along it every day.
The project emerged from a participatory process with residents, who provided ideas and suggestions that were partially incorporated into the plan.
The masterplan was entrusted to Infra. To, who in turn commissioned a multidisciplinary team, comprising the architectural studio CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati, the cooperative Liberitutti for the community engagement, West8 for the landscape design and MIC-HUB for the mobility strategies.

Our contribution
MIC-HUB’s focus was specifically on mobility strategies, helping to define solutions for more sustainable and integrated transport along Corso Palermo.
This included analysing the existing mobility situation and proposing measures to encourage walking and cycling, as well as optimising the use of public spaces in line with the project’s urban regeneration goals.Using big data and analysing GPS signals, MIC-HUB helped identify resident and visitor density patterns within the area.
