Scalo Milano Outlet & More
Milan

MIC-HUB carried out an initial study of Scalo Milano Outlet & More, analysing the vehicular and pedestrian accessibility to the shopping mall and also assessing the circulation spaces inside it, in order to identify any issues that might interfere with a homogeneous distribution of pedestrian flows inside the shopping mall.
Following this, we were commissioned by Scalo Milano Outlet & More to draw up a project to improve wayfinding and signage, and to reconfigure vehicular access and parking.

Our contribution
The starting point for the wayfinding proposal was the optimisation of the access system to Scalo Milano Outlet & More and the existing pedestrian entrances.
The wayfinding system, developed by MIC-HUB and 100km studio, integrates an analysis of the positioning of the new elements with a distinct signage system to meet the various communication needs.
The coordinated system improves internal routes thanks to a clearer wayfinding, which guides and informs visitors, helping them to identify the different areas of the Milan Outlet.
MIC-HUB analysed pedestrian behaviour inside the Milan Outlet, tracking movements and flows using advanced technologies. Access and circulation areas were also analysed to identify pinch points, aggregation points and possible disruptions to the main flows.
This behavioural study subsequently informed the client’s positioning of the signage in and around the Milan Outlet.
