Riyadh Metro Line 3, Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The Orange Line, also known as the Al Madinah Al Munawwarah Axis, is Line 3 of the Riyadh Metro. Operations began at the start of 2025.
Spanning 41 kilometres, Line 3 runs from west to east, connecting Jeddah Road with the Second Eastern Ring Road near Khashm Al Aan.
This new line is an essential part of the city's metro system, designed to enhance urban mobility and connectivity. Once construction is complete, it will comprise 22 stations and form part of Riyadh's extensive metro network, one of the largest projects worldwide.
The MIC-HUB intervention has focused on major stations along Line 3, carrying out extensive pedestrian simulation analysis to ensure that they are appropriately sized for various operational scenarios.

Our contribution
The MIC-HUB team developed a set of dynamic pedestrian simulations and provided assistance with the functional and transport assessments for the detailed design of ten metro stations.
The pedestrian model replicated the stations' layouts and was loaded with the expected passenger demand. Combining these two elements provided information on the usage of vertical connections, corridors, turnstiles and platforms within the stations, and thus the performance indicators.
This activity was intended to verify the operation of the access system, internal circulation and vertical transportation in order to ensure safety and efficiency in every scenario.
