Designed by UNStudio and operated by Qatar Railways Company, the Doha Metro Network is a state-of-the-art, fully automated, driverless transit system that has transformed public transport into a cultural and urban experience.

This major investment in public transport is intended to encourage people to travel by public transport rather than by private car.

The system has the potential to save 107 tonnes of CO2, contributing to a more sustainable future.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Our contribution

MIC-HUB's objective was to develop a set of dynamic pedestrian simulations and provide assistance with the functional and transport assessment for the detailed design of seven stations as part of the Doha new metro line project.

This activity aimed to verify the operation of the access system, internal circulation and vertical transportation to ensure safety and efficiency in all scenarios.


The pedestrian model replicated typical stations layout and was subjected to the expected passenger demand. Combining these two elements provided an indication of usage of the vertical connections, corridors, turnstiles, and platforms within the stations and, therefore, of the performance indicators.

MIC-HUB collaborated with UNStudio to develop these analyses for both the preliminary competition and final design phases.
