PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Analysis of crowd dynamics during typical operational days
  • Estimation of space utilisation and density levels
  • Assessment of the level of service and visitor experience

Our contribution

Assessing pedestrian movements is an essential part of designing and operating new and existing facilities, particularly in the leisure industry where user experience and visitor comfort are crucial to investment success.

MIC-HUB's project focused on analysing crowd dynamics during typical operational days. The aim was to estimate space utilisation and density levels, assess accessibility to the different areas of the park, and identify potential critical issues related to the design and anticipated visitor numbers.

The study included the following critical assessments:

• The construction of a demand framework, taking into consideration all the functions included in the building and the overlapping flows;

• An assessment of the theme park capacity under different demand scenarios;

• A definition of user profiles and visitor agendas;

• An assessment of the Level of Service and the user experience of visitors.

Pedestrian analysis was essential to ensure that Dream Island Theme Park could handle varying visitor demands and improve the visitor experience, while ensuring optimal crowd management.
